The amp opening is 10-1/2" X 7-5/8" (if you take that piece of wood in there out you can expand the hole to 13" X 7-5/8". Another solution is to close that whole area up with a blank plate and to mount whatever amplifier you want on the front of the cabinet (of course it won't be a backfire sub anymore, but you can have whatever wattage you need).
