This is a 24 gauge, 24AWG, shielded twisted pair, STP, stranded Ethernet cable with a standard PVC outer jacket. There are four pairs, UL rated CAT 5E at 350Mhz. The cable is gray and comes in a 1,000 foot easy pull box.
Shielded cable is used in many environments where extra protection from outside electrical interference is desired. This can be heavy machinery, transformers, generators or other equipment that has a high degree of EMI, Electro-magnetic interference. This is an excellent Ethernet cable for making patch cables; stranded Ethernet cable is used for patch cables versus solid Ethernet cable which is used for structured wiring installation in walls and ceilings.
